I know how you feel, I too was thrown away by an employer but I am back nursing not in a hand on way but via e-health. Nursing is not just the hands on delivery of care there are many fields of nursing that can utilise the skills you have. I know the lose for I am a nurse through and through, even when I was fighting to stay in employment in 96 I was volunteering as a community first responder for the ambulance services. I live in a village which is about 30 minutes at speed from hospital and small roads we have no ambulances station in the village. We have a team of voltmeters who are trained to use an automated defibulater and to administer CPR. I no longer do this as I have returned to work in NHS Direct an e-health environment. Never give up hope, there is always a way for injured nurses to work and use our knowledge and skills to enhance the patients journey through health care.
