Hi Everyone. I am excited about this discussion forum. I work for a union of nursing home workers in New Jersey. We now have two contracts that require zero lifting. I have also done some digging around on the cost and savings of zero lift programs and will soon publish an article on that topic. Here is a question for everyone. In one of our nursing homes the residents are showered every day. Many residents are over 250 pounds and have NO strength in either their arms or legs. This makes it impossible for them to use a sit/stand lift. Because of their size around their midline, they can not use most safety vests, either. We are trying to find a solution for putting on their pants without lifting them. Even Arjo's Corrado shower chair does not work for this size resident. The only thing I can think of (besides putting them back to bed to change them) is special clothing that doesnt go around their bottom, but that may be a dignitiy issue. Anyone else have this problem? Any suggestions?-Alice Freund
